Music fans in for a treat

Music fans are in for a treat this Queen’s Birthday weekend when Alan Boyle and Francesca de Valence visit the Royal Hotel in Tenterfield on Saturday.
This will be the pair’s second visit to the region in 12 months, after playing a sell-out show in one of their favourite Tenterfield wineries, as part of their Darling Downs, New England and Granite Belt Tour in August.
Having received such a warm welcome on that occasion, they were determined to make it back again soon, and will have new material to showcase, and stories to tell about their individual adventures
since then.
Brisbane songstress, Francesca de Valence, writes personal, evocative songs that channel the likes of Carole King, Neil Finn and
The Beatles.
A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, she has produced two award-winning EPs and is one of Australia’s foremost touring artists.
She has worked alongside performers including Belinda Carlisle, Michael Buble and Keith Urban and has played sell-out shows at the Brisbane Festival in addition to touring Berlin, Hong Kong and the USA in the past 12 months.
Irishman Alan Boyle originally began his career on the streets of Dublin but moved to Australia in 2005 and has now established himself as one of this country’s most exciting emerging artists, supporting acts like Wendy Matthews, Diesel and Ian Moss.
He released his second EP ‘Oxygen’ in 2009. Since then he has been a Billy Thorpe Scholarship Award winner, a QSong and International Songwriting Competition finalist, a 2011 Telstra Road to Tamworth finalist and has played at venues and festivals both at home and abroad.
He’s begun recording his third release and debut album with an ARIA Award-winning producer in Brisbane.
“We are very glad to be coming back to Tenterfield,” he said.
“It’s so incredibly beautiful in the winter, and we’re really looking forward to catching up with some of the friends we made
last year.”
Alan and Francesca will be dropping by TEN FM for a chat and a few songs on Saturday afternoon before their performance at the Royal Hotel, so be sure to tune in. The evening of music and storytelling begins at 8pm. Admission for this event is free.
They will also perform at Pyramids Road Wines in Wyberba on Monday from 1.30pm.
Tickets are $10. For enquiries contact Pyramids Road Wines on (07) 4684 5151.
