Gifts that go a long way

STANTHORPE Community Op Shop is currently running its inaugural Christmas appeal and wishing tree to help the homeless and those doing it tough.
Donations of children and teen gifts are being sought (with sex and age labelled), as well as wrapped unused personal care items, non perishable food or store cards for Woolworths, IGA, Target and Big W.
Blankets and pretty boxes for food items are also wanted.
Op shop director Debbie Lightfoot-deHamer said donations big or small would be gratefully accepted.
“We would like to thank local businesses and locals including the Sushi Bar, Seasonal Food and Sarah of Free Foods who continue to support us,” she said.
Ms Lightfoot-deHamer said donations could be left at Zest, The Country Club Hotel, H and L Joiners in the industrial estate or at the Op shop, the Alley Arcade, Railway Street.
“Santa has just notified us that he will be visiting The Alley Arcade on 28 November and 3 December,” she said.
“For a small $5 fee, your child can have a photo taken with all money going to food assist.
“If anyone you know is in need of a helping hand, contact us by 5 December.”
