Child airlifted after dog attack

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl was airlifted by helicopter on Friday night after she was attacked by a dog in Stanthorpe.
The young girl was bitten on the face and suffered lacerations to her nose and cheek.
The dog was not a pet of the family, however it was believed to have been seen in the area prior to the attack.
A helicopter crew was tasked to pick up the girl from Stanthorpe Hospital shortly after 9pm on Friday night.
She was flown in a stable condition to the Mater Children’s Hospital for surgery to treat the lacerations to her face.The dog’s breed is unknown at this stage.
Stanthorpe Police informed the Free Times on Monday that it was not involved in responding to the incident.
Calls to Mater Children’s Hospital to find out the condition of the girl were not returned.
