Night bowls to begin next year

Warwick East Bowls Notes:
LAST Thursday was our final monthly triples for the year and on behalf of the club we wish one and all a great festive season. Results of the day was as follows, First round – P. Collis, B. Black, C. Lawler d B. Bailey, G. Green, J. Cochrane 16-5; E. Diery, Grumpy, N. Wickham d G. Dent, D. Meneely, L. Monroe 18-8; B. Johnstone, P. Gynther, W. Tucker drew with F. Ternanov, C. Johnson, D. Neil 15-15; R. Philp, B. Lee, V. Nelson d (no name) 17-7; K. Selby, B. Bourke, V. Hemings d (no card) 18-7. Second round: Due to rain interruption, this round was reduced to 10 end, skips names only. R. Philp d K. Selby 9-5; B. Johnstone d no name 20-4; F. Ternanov d G. Dent 9-8; P. Collis d E. Diery 10-4. Summit was leading Clifton 3-0 when they called their game off. Winners for the day were P. Collis’ team with R. Philp, runners-up.
Saturday saw social bowls only with one game of pairs with results E. Diery, V. Nelson d B. Rowling, B. Lee 18-8.
Social bowls will be played over the next two Saturdays prior to the Christmas break. Our monthly triples will re-commence on Thursday 4 January 2015, teams remember this date and will see you then.
The club will be trying out night bowls, commencing 10 January with proposed starting time of 5.30pm, hopefully in the cooler part of the day. More on this early new year, so keep up with our notes or contact the club for more details.

NOT much action on the green this week except the Monthly Triples which was cut short by rain soon after the start of the second round.

After ringing around extensively, I have a runner-up but no winner. The runner-up was Brian Bourkes team from S/C. Phew! just as well I am giving this job up soon.
The club had three rinks of triples for Dad’s Army on Wednesday and here are the results, D. Neal, B. Maunder, J. Ruhle 23 v Buddy, G. Murphy, D. Warr 14; L. Tucker, E. Welsh 13 v R. Smith, M. Holder 4; C. Farrell, W. Tucker 11 v G. Asay, B. Black 7. The chooks were won by Lorna and Edwin.
Looking ahead social is on Saturday and Alex’s Pitsworth Livestock Carriers on Sunday.

Tenterfield Veteran Golfers Report
The Tenterfield Veteran Golf X’mas Ham Day was played on Tuesday 25 November, attracting a field of 39 players in very hot weather conditions. Winner of the full Ham was Ken Hines 43 points; Ashley Harrison won the half Ham as the runner-up on 41 points. Lions X’mas cakes for Best 1st Nine Bruce Jackson 23, Best Back Nine Neil Gale 22. Pin Shots Men Ralph Weatherley and Ladies June Williams.
Ball Run Down: Lisa Dalton 41; Neil Gale and John Gale 40; Terry Daly and John Milton 39; Peter Mustoo and Michael Hurley 38 Rob Murphy and Garry Nicholls 37 countback. Mystery Hole No 7 all square with 4 pointers and Captain’s draw John Augustson.
A Christmas dinner was held later that night with 50 Veterans and Partners enjoying a great night of fellowship. Eight half hams were raffled, adding to the night’s entertainment.
The club is now entering a quiet period in the Veteran’s yearly calendar with the Christmas period up on us but regular Tuesday Veteran fixtures will be played as usual through the holiday period.

Southern Cross Bowls Club
Our members and guests certainly enjoyed a wonderful afternoon last Saturday when the Cross held their annual Christmas party, Goosey draw and barbecue. The last playing day for the year will be this Saturday 13 December when the Akooramak staff have their Christmas party with barefoot bowls at 3pm. Members are invited to come along and join with them for bowls.
The next management committee meeting will be this Sunday, 14 December at 10am followed by the Men’s meeting at 11.15am.
