Frozen to warm the hearts

THE temperature will hardly be icy or frosty and a prediction for snow unlikely, but characters of the hit Disney movie Frozen will provide some winter wonder for children attending Warwick’s Carols in the Park this Sunday.
Songbird Melissa Williams, who is always a hit with the children, will share her rendition of the smash hit Let it Go with an expected audience of thousands.
Olaf, the comic-relief snowman from Frozen, is also expected to drop by Carols in the Park.
Organiser Tracy Vellacott said that Warwick’s Carols in the Park is very much a family night with a visit from Santa at 6pm, followed by the ever-popular Rotary Christmas dress-up competition and stage show from 6.30pm.
President of Warwick Rotary Darren Bray is encouraging children to come dressed as one of Santa’s little helpers or in their special Christmas outfits.
Warwick’s Carols in the Park will be held at the band rotunda on the Palmerin Street side of Leslie Park and attendees are encouraged to bring along their chairs and picnic rugs to find a perfect spot to welcome the festive season.
Stanthorpe’s Community Carols will be held at Weeroona Park from 5.30pm tomorrow (Friday) with programs available for a gold coin donation. Proceeds go to Girl Guides.
Mayor Peter Blundell said the entertainment for the Stanthorpe carols included an impressive line-up with the Granite Belt Choir, the Granite Belt Junior Choir, the Stanthorpe Brass Band and a whole host of other local artists taking the stage.
