Come all ye faithful

The Granite Belt Choir.

STANTHORPE’S annual carol service performed by the Granite Belt Choir will be held this Sunday at St Paul’s Anglican Church.
Members of the audience will be able to sing along to such favourites as Once in Royal David’s City, Come All Ye Faithful, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, The First Noel, Away in a Manger, and Joy to the World.
The Granite Belt Choir, which numbers more than 30 enthusiastic locals, has been practising for many months under musical director Jeanene Chapman.
“This year we are introducing five beautiful new carols including How Still, an atmospheric composition by Gene Grier and Lowell Everson that is sure to please,“ Mrs Chapman said.
“Then there is Amid the Cold of Winter, a 20th century piece by Taylor Davis that features unison singing by male voices, and a John Rutter work with special organ interludes, called Christ is the Morning Star.“
Entry to the carol service, which begins at St Paul’s, Corundum Street, at 11.30am, is by donation.
