Wrapped up for Christmas

A four kilometre section of Mt Lindesay Road upgrade will be sealed before Christmas.

FOUR kilometres of Mt Lindesay Road between Legume and Woodenbong will be sealed prior to Christmas.
Four sections of the road are currently being upgraded using a combination of the council’s day labour workforce and contractors.
The upgrade includes widening the existing road formation, sealing the new road pavement, installation of line marking, guideposts and signposts, and undertaking improvements to visibility along sections, particularly at tight horizontal curves.
Tenterfield Shire Council has been allocated $2.38 million from the State Government to undertake the improvements and have kicked in an extra $600,000 from its own coffers, bringing the total to almost $3 million.
Mayor Peter Petty said while council is grateful for the allocated funding, more is urgently required to improve road alignment and width.
“Council will continue to actively lobby our federal member of parliament (Barnaby Joyce) for increased funding allocations for Mt Lindesay Road,“ he said.
The upgrade began in September 2014 with the remaining sections expected to be completed by June 2015.
