Council’s water pressure

Southern Downs Regional Council is asking community members to “bang the table“ about water services targets.
Water and wastewater manager Tendekai Mapeza said the council is required by the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008 to have Customer Service Standards (CSS) to ensure customers receive a high standard and consistent level of service.
“Council decided to use its online community engagement tool Bang the Table to ask community members about their views on a number of water and waste water services,“ he said.
“These services potentially affect everyone. We are asking people about reasonable timeframes so, for example, would people agree that the period to fix a burst watermain would be around four hours, with an assessment time of one hour.”
The survey on Bang the Table will also ask about watermain leaks, water pressure, spillages and other water services targets.
“We’re asking people to go to council’s website at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au from this week and have their say – the survey will only take a short period of time to complete and this will provide us with invaluable data and feedback.“
Consultation closes on Friday 12 December.
