AN ALLEGED armed robber’s attempt to escape a date at the Warwick Magistrates’ Court has earned him a six-month stint behind bars.
Adam Vester Rose seized an opportunity while making the 10m walk from the Warwick watchhouse to the courthouse.
The former Warwick man slipped his police escort and made a dash for freedom.
Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Acting Senior Sergeant Shane Reid said a team of seven police officers then chased Rose on foot.
Despite his efforts in outrunning officers, the 24-year- old’s time as a free man was short lived.
“He escaped but we found him hiding under a car in the underground carpark at Rose City Shoppingworld,“ Acting Sen Sgt Reid said.
Rose was returned to the courthouse with one count of escaping lawful custody added to his charge sheet.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey sentenced Rose to six months jail and he will be eligible to apply for bail on 29 May.
