GRAB a “cuppa” and have some fun for a good cause it’s Biggest Morning Tea time again.
And of course, there are none bigger on the Southern Downs than out at Pratten on 28 May where locals will be gathering for the third year to raise funds for the Cancer Council and have a bit of fun.
Held at 186 Big Hill Road, the event is a combination of fun, food, music and auctions, according to organiser Di Lawlor.
It’s also a chance to check out the beautiful open garden, a miniature railway ride etc. – all for a couple of gold coin donations for entry.
The event is a little more than the regular morning tea starting at 10am and going through to 2pm.
“It’s a strange time for a morning tea,” Di laughed.
“But we will be having an auction as well.”
The auction is also very Pratten – items made by locals and most with a garden feel including a Lady Bug garden statue made from a bowling ball and bird feeders as well as some pretty cool knitted items.
“It showcases the skills of the people Pratten,” Di said.
“We will also be having live music throughout the day, thanks to DJ Vince from Warwick.
“This is the third time we’ve done the biggest morning team.
“We do it at our home but the way it is growing we may have to move it in the next few years to the community hall.”
She said while it was a nice chance to show off their garden, this really was an event that the community got behind and there had been a lot of baking and preparation around the area in the lead-up to the event.
Di said the event had already raised more than $4000 in the first two years, and they were hoping to add another $1500 from this year’s event.
