A WOMAN at a property at Wallace Street, Warwick, has had a shock after discovering a man standing in her backyard and her garage and car doors open.
About 10.25pm on Sunday, the woman heard knocking and a dog barking. She then went to the back of the premises where she noticed a man of thin build, short to medium height and blonde hair standing in her backyard. The man then ran through the back of the yard towards Wood Street.
A quantity of tools is believed to have been stolen from the car. Police urge anyone with any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Footy finals revellers go violent
STANTHORPE police were called to a disturbance near the intersection of Maryland and Railway streets around 11.30pm on Saturday night.
A group of intoxicated people, believed to have been celebrating Stanthorpe’s grand final win, were at the intersection when violence broke out. Subsequently a 32-year-old Ashford man was arrested for obstructing police. The man’s 20-year-old female partner then tried to intervene, obstructing police and was also arrested. The group was then said to have turned against police with the officers resorting to the use of a Taser to control them.
In the process of arresting the Ashford man, a female police officer was head-butted resulting in a man being charged with serious assault of a police officer. Two officers received minor injuries during the altercation.
Knockout punch outside Central Hotel
A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been knocked unconscious outside Central Hotel in Stanthorpe on Friday night after trying to help another man.
The 52-year-old offender is believed to have been evicted from the premises due to intoxication.
When the 29-year-old man tried to help him home, the older man then punched the younger man twice in the head, knocking him unconscious for a short time.
Police are currently investigating the matter.
Drug drivers overtake drunks
ABOUT 400 breath tests were conducted by Stanthorpe police over the last week with no positive readings recorded.
However there were two positive drugs tests recorded. A 23-year-old male and a 33-year-old-male both returned positive drug tests after being stopped at Glen Aplin and Stanthorpe’s CBD.
Warwick police have also recorded more positive drug samples than breath tests. Five people returned positive drug tests over the past week compared to one drink driving charge.
