AN accident on Saturday on the Cunningham Highway has resulted in the death of an elderly couple.
Police said the man and woman, both aged in their sixties, were killed when they collided with a truck shortly after midday on Saturday. The accident occurred on the Cunningham Highway, east of the intersection with Strickfuss Road, Allan, when the car collided head-on with the semi-trailer causing it to jackknife and set the car on fire.
The couple from Brisbane both died at the scene. The male truck driver was taken to hospital for observation.
Investigators from the Warwick Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them on 4660 4444 (Warwick Station) or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
