IT may be April fool’s day, but Southern Downs Regional Council’s new MY SDRC APP promotion, launched on Friday 1 April, is no joke, offering residents the chance to win products in support of that quest for more sustainable living.
Southern Downs Regional Council’s chief executive officer David Keenan said the message was clear.
“Residents are keen to implement sustainable measures in their homes and gardens to manage their household waste and lessen their environmental footprint,” he said.
“This was reinforced with more than 400 residents attending the council’s Sustainable Living workshops last year with special guest speaker and ABC TV Gardening Australia’s Jerry-Coleby Williams, and the continuing strong interest in the council’s waste reduction, composting and worm farming workshops.
“Residents who download the free MY SDRC APP from today, 1 April will go into a monthly draw to win a compost bin, worm farm or water saving device, and can reap the rewards of managing their household waste, creating ‘green gold’ for their garden or becoming more water wise,” he said.
“The MY SDRC APP not only provides residents with a ‘one-stop shop’ access to basic council information, but can also keep people up to date on what is happening in our region.
“Downloads and usage of the MY SDRC APP increased significantly over the last four months with the council’s first promotion, which gave away three family pool passes to the Wooding and Strand families from Warwick and the Roberts family from Stanthorpe.
“The first promotion resulted in an increase of more than 250 downloads of the app. On 7 March, the MY SDRC APP was sitting at 766 downloads, and performance reports to the council over the last few months has shown a steady increase in the usage of the app by residents to lodge requests with the council.
“The council’s new promotion will run from April to December and we’re aiming to reach 1500 downloads of the app by the end of this year,” Mr Keenan said.
To enter, simply download the MY SDRC APP from the App Store (Apple devices) or Google Play (Android devices) and submit a request via the MY SDRC APP, selecting the category type “MY SDRC APP Promo 2-2016”, including your name and contact details. One lucky winner will be announced each month from 1 April to 9 December this year.
