WOODENBONG skateboard enthusiasts were treated to an afternoon of fun with a visit from ‘Ownlife’ skateboarding instructors Dylan McNamara and Yani Kawi as a part of National Youth Week.
They were supported by Kyogle Council Youth Advisory Committee, Kyogle Council, Kyogle Youth Action and Kyogle Together.
Dylan and Yani motivated the kids to learn skateboarding and to get active. Safety awareness was in the forefront of the workshop.
The ‘Ownlife’ groups are based in Melbourne and Northern Rivers NSW, and the latter promote skateboarding events in the Northern Rivers region and beyond to inspire and teach safety within the sporting activity.
Woodenbong Progress Association only recently opened the Skate Park and Outdoor Gym recreational area, and the members were delighted to see the area getting a great workout.
Mayor Danielle Mulholland said: “This event is a great outcome, demonstrating that partnerships between community groups and council have great value and that events like this, show that the Kyogle Council Community Strategic Plan incorporates the entire council area.”
