Art prize open for entries

The Scots College fifth Art Prize is now open for entries. The Art Prize is an initiative of the Scots PGC Parents and Friends Association, and aims to gather and awaken the Warwick community to the wonder of art and celebrate talented adult and student artists.
“Everyone is capable of enjoying art on at least one level. It invades our silence, manipulates our thoughts and plays on our emotions,” said Dorothy Haig, 2011 Art Prize Curator.
Thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, the P&F are excited to announce that wonderful prizes will be awarded to the winners of the various sections, including $2000 for the winner of the Open Section, and $500 and a fantastic night of accommodation for two at Frog’s Hollow Artists Retreat for the runner up. The Student Section also offers cash prizes and art supply vouchers.
Past events have attracted more than sixty artists and have been extremely well received. The Art Prize also aims to raise funds for P&F’s continued support of the College.
There will be an Open Section and a Student Section, and Joolie Gibbs, Coordinator of the Gympie Regional Gallery and Winner of 2010 Gallery and Museum Achievement Award, will judge the competition. Art works are to be presented in two dimensions using any medium the artist desires.  All of the entries in the competition will be offered for sale.
The Official Opening to be
held at Scots College, Oxenham St campus, on the evening of Friday, October 21 is traditionally a
cocktail party. On Saturday,October 22, a Devonshire tea will be available. To reserve a ticket to the official opening, contact the College on
