Use by dates for Councillors

“Voters in call for Councillor use-by dates” is the call of over 50 per cent of ratepayers who desire to have councillors serving years capped. Reading of this recent survey by the Local Government Association of Qld in another place, Mayors were found to be supported by only 36 per cent of ratepayers, and Councillors, while faring better were almost 40 per cent out of favour.
Allora awaits the decision of whether a chicken hatchery is to be situated 0.9km out of Allora, to produce one million chickens a week. We feel as helpless as the best farmers in the world, staring into a world that seems to be run by robots who do not need to eat, as wasteful Federal, State and Local Governments sell their souls and our once prosperous nation to the highest bidder.
That these so called leaders stand before us, telling us a carbon tax is the bee’s knees, when most have had memories of Australia’s weather for decades, repeating the good and bad, the wet and the dry, and just getting on with managing, not turning it into a tax. The attitude of leaders of government comes from the very top. Politicians stand and bluff their way through every question asked of them.
What has truly shocked this writer is that 99 per cent of politicians that were once normal people speak to voters in this monologue and feel impressive, and important, when they to us just sound like dills.
