MARANOA Federal Labor candidate Dave Kerrigan visited Stanthorpe again recently to meet and talk with people in the area.
He was joined by Senator Chris Ketter, who travelled down from Brisbane especially for the day.
Mr Kerrigan said many people availed themselves of the opportunity to ask questions about policies, and to voice their concerns about where the country was heading.
Dave, who lives in Barcaldine, was born and raised in Longreach, and has worked in the Health and Community Sectors for the last 12 years.
As a result, he said, he knew firsthand the importance of quality health services across Maranoa, and was committed to fight against cuts in the health budget.
“I believe that no matter where people live in Maranoa, they should have affordable and reliable health care”, he said.
Dave also co-ordinates school, junior and senior rugby league competitions, and is president of the Barcaldine community events committee.
The electorate of Maranoa covers 42 per cent of Queensland, and Dave has been travelling throughout the electorate continually over the past few months, meeting and talking with people in regional Queensland.
On other issues, Dave said he firmly believed that multinational companies should pay their fair share of tax, and that there should be a Royal Commission into banks.
Dave held a Meet the Candidate morning tea in Warwick the next day, where he was again met with a positive reception.
