Second annual dreadlock fundraiser

Rosies are a group of local volunteers who provide an outreach service targeting the poor and homeless in Warwick.
Rosies offer a friendly ear, support, food, clothing/blankets, study tutors and company for court appearances.  As a non-government funded group, Rosies rely on donations from local individuals and businesses.
As a result, Earth Wear Eco Fashions owner Michelle Michelin-Law, decided to do a fundraiser called Dreads Against Drugs to raise funds for Rosies.
Last year, more than $1000 was raised for the cause, with the target set at $2500 for this year’s fundraiser.
With the funds raised in 2010, Rosies were able to purchase two outdoor gas heaters, which are used during the 11pm to 2am outreach service in Leslie Park on Friday nights. The heaters have made the Winter Outreach a bit more comfortable for all involved.
You can join this year’s Dreads Against Drugs Fundraiser by asking your friends and family to sponsor you to get dreadlocks.
If you are not ready for such a radical permanent hairstyle, then another option is to get your hair braided or have your hair done in lots of mini plaits.
For further details or to donate, contact Michelle Michelin-Law on (07) 4661 9469.
To become a Rosies outreach volunteer, contact Vince or Patti Hemmings on (07) 4661 5528.
