Free family fun in the Lavender

Peter and Tere Bonner, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Stanthorpe, will once again throw open the gates of Aloomba Lavender to present Legends in the Lavender on Saturday, October 8.
With free entry and a great line-up of local and popular entertainers, the focus of this year’s event is firmly on local families and the future legends of the Granite Belt.
Aside from the host of talented entertainers, there will be a number of market stalls and a variety of novelty events including yabby races throughout the afternoon.
The youngsters have not been forgotten, with children’s activities also available on the day. They can enjoy the jumping castle or face painting and there will be fairy floss, toffee apples and lots more to interest the young and young at heart.
“We have a wide range of very talented people across the Granite Belt and we invite everyone to come along enjoy their talent,” Tere Bonner said.
Some of the entertainers including the legendary Jack Drake and Mario Costanzo need no introduction.
The Amiens All Star skippers will be showcasing their extraordinary talents that have won them a swag of awards.
Also featuring on the program are several emerging local talents including Kevin Collette, Matthew Manahan and Chris Giacca.
Popular singer/songwriter/entertainer and teller of tall stories, Backyard Balladerr Errol Gray; toe Tappin’ Teddy Thompson and Alan Luscombe, will also perform at the event. All are regulars at Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Muster.
Gates will open at 12pm. Rotarians will be manning the bar and a barbecue will operate throughout the afternoon and evening when Ben Marcus and his band will pick up the entertainment.
Bring a chair, a blanket or even your swag and enjoy, but remember BYO alcohol is strictly not allowed and will be policed in accordance with licensing requirements.
Proceeds of the event will go to Careflight and Carramar Villa.
