Amazing performance

‘Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ was truly ‘amazing’, with The School of Total Education students delivering the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic effortlessly and with enthusiasm.
The production was the first musical to be performed in the new and lavish Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium and was a wonderful opportunity for secondary students to showcase their talents.
The musical involved students from Years 8 to 12, with the lead role being performed by Jordan Briggs as the younger Joseph and Andrew Pickering as Joseph in Egypt.
In the retelling of this Biblical story, Joseph is a handsome young man who is his father’s favourite child, able to interpret dreams and the wearer of an amazing coat.
He makes his brothers jealous, is sold into slavery, ends up in Egypt, almost gets seduced by Potiphar’s wife, becomes Pharaoh’s Number Two man, is reunited with his brothers and his dreams come true.
Those who attended the performances were not disappointed.
Under the direction of Colin Alley, the band delivered the music with perfect timing and audio excellence. The cast looked stunning in their vibrant costumes and transported the audience from Canaan to Egypt with wonderful Rice/Webber songs including Any Dream will Do and the
Pharaoh/s Song.
The polished performances by the cast under the direction of drama teacher Allyra Stubbings were the result of dedication and hard work by
all involved.
