Eight Mile a top priority

Giving constituents a voice has led to Stanthorpe resident Ade Larsen wanting a career in politics and as such he is running as a candidate in the upcoming State election.
The Katter’s Australian Party candidate for Southern Downs started to become politically active about five years ago when he saw representation as a major issue.
“I realised the direction the country is heading in is wrong and needs to be changed. We need to represent the people and give them a voice,” Mr Larsen said.
He believed coal seam gas developments, mental health and the Eight Mile intersection were major issues in the electorate.
The 36-year-old was disgusted that living pressures were now the conversation around the kitchen table and felt Queensland’s mental health units should be separated into age categories so an “18-year-old is not set up in the same mental health unit as an 80-year-old”.
Mr Larsen said his party’s policy was to impose an immediate moratorium on coal seam gas developments, protecting farmers’ rights.
“Queenslanders can have no confidence that this industry is properly regulated and that means a moratorium is urgently required.”
He said the Eight Mile intersection was his number one priority.
“There have been too many deaths at that intersection. We need to push for funding and urgent upgrades. An overpass is part of the solution,” Mr Larsen said.
He can be contacted on 0417 707 404.
