Australia Day is, I believe, the day when our country comes together, to lay aside our differences and honour those who have put their lives on the line for us, the ones who serve and protect the people and the volunteers who give their time to the community.
How devastating it was to watch the spiteful animosity and violence, directed toward the Prime Minister of this country. How embarrassing it was for the rest of us Australians to have the whole world watching through the media. I no longer feel sympathy for these people who cannot adapt to the 21st century. The following day topped it all off though, the worst of all things happened. The abuse of children happened in front of our eyes. The children were in the forefront of the group watching while our flag was burned. Those attention-seeking, spiteful people abused the minds and hearts of their own children. Where were their dignified Elders and strong women’s council? Will there be punishment for these people?
