Boot scootin’ time at the rodeo

Locals and travellers alike turned out for the Warwick Rodeo & Campdraft, hunkering down through monsoon rains, sweltering heat, and chilly days all in one weekend.

Richard Hansen was announced as the Warwick Gold Cup Winner, with Mark Buttsworth taking out the Canning Downs Campdraft.

The Stallion Campdraft was won by Will Durkin on Nonda Southern Cross.

It was judged by local Glenn Evans who “has unwaveringly supported the Warwick Gold Cup Campdraft for many decades”.

Donovan Rutherford and Troy Wilkinson were declared equal winners of the open bull ride on 85 points.

For the rope and tie, Shane Iker came in first with a score of 23.8, with Jessie Townsend coming in second at 25.4 and Shane Kenny coming in third at 25.95.

Mick Knight came in first for the open saddle bronc with a score of 145.5. In equal second on 145 points were Greg Hamilton and Jordan Iker.

Jack McKenzie came in fourth with 141 points.

Steer wrestling was taken out by Jock Bone Langdon on 12.25 points, while Campbell Hodson came in second on 13.5 and Mark Gibb came in third with a score of 13.9.

In the ladies barrel race, Leanne Caban came in first on 36.377, with Amy Eckford second on 36.569 and Lyndel Mittelstadt third on 36.858.

Tom Webster came in first in the open bareback with a score of 158, while Brock Mulhall came in second on 144 and Travis Hebb came in third with 142.

In team roping, Campbell Hodson and Liam Davison took out first place with a score of 15.25.

Shane Kenny and Campbell Hodson came in second with 16.15, while Robert McPhee and Rope McPhee came in third with a score of 17.4.

Kylie Hancock took out the top spot for ladies breakaway roping with a score of 7.4, while Katie Vaughan came in second on 9.65 and Jess McHugh came in third with a score of 11.05.
