Born to help others

Some people know what they want to do early in life while other’s try different careers which ultimately prepare them for what becomes their calling.

Kelly Reardon, principal of Wade Real Estate, falls into the second category.

Although she’s a third-generation real estate agent, Kelly didn’t immediately follow her parents and grandfather into industry.

“I grew up in Warwick and mum and dad had the Real Estate agency,” she said.

“I went away and then came back to work at the Daily News as a cadet journalist, I did that for nearly 10 years and then when I had my children, my 4 boys, I decided that working with family was a good option and got back into the real estate.

“In between I worked at Westpac in Warwick as well, so everything I had done helped guide me towards real estate. It’s funny how those work experiences have all helped – the journalism and finance back ground and having mum and dad in the agency. It was really a good segue-way into the business and I just love it.”

Kelly started at Wade in 2004 and has been working there on and off ever since.

“Mum and dad retired in April 2019 and I purchased the business off them at that time,” she explained.

“Since then we have been growing Wades Real Estate, buying Property Specialists out in 2019. Their staff joined us and we are now just trying to go from strength to strength and cement the business.”

Kelly’s parents opened the agency in 1987 – making it one of the oldest and best-known firms in Warwick.

She said it was an easy transition from her father to herself.

“Real Estate has always been a big part of our life – my grandfather started Wade Real Estate in Dalby and then my dad and mum started it in Warwick and my brother and sister have an agency in Highfields so it’s been a big part of our family background,” Kelly said.
