SongFest for Allora

Acclaimed indie folk music show, fRETfEST is bringing their folk music concerts to Allora this Sunday from 1pm.
Also travelling to Roma, Charleville, Cunnamulla, St George, Pittsworth and Chinchilla, this contemporary music tour will offer workshops and auditions as opportunities for songwriters who wish to kick-start their career.
The music company, fRETfEST, is credited with discovering and nurturing local talent, including Pete Murray (from Chinchilla), in the heart of the Downs.
Pete Murray is quoted as saying, “fRETfEST was one of my earliest shows and it gave me the opportunity to play my original music to an appreciative crowd.”
“Local musicians will get the chance to perform their own songs, live on stage, in front of their community. They must first attend the workshop at 1pm and audition at 3pm during the day,” fRETfEST founder Al Buchan said.
“This is a chance to be discovered and to be applauded in front of your own community.”
Allora songwriter, John Gordon, speaks highly of the fRETfEST music program. John famously wrote Wendy Matthews’ hit song, “Inexorably Yours” and he also more recently made the newspapers for lampooning the mining industry in support of Lock the Gate with his song “Australia… Wh$re Of The World”.
The respected Queensland indie folk music company, (Fretfest Pty Ltd), received a $15,000 grant from the Australian Government Contemporary Music Touring Program to tour the Darling Downs.
The Contemporary Music Touring Program aims to give Australians, wherever they live, better access to some of the country’s best live contemporary music. The Australian Government is proud to be associated with the Darling Downs Winter SongFest by fRETfEST.
