Championship returns to Stanthorpe

After a one-month break, the Stadium Drift Australia Repco Pro Championship will be back in action at Carnell Raceway Stanthorpe this Sunday, when round four of the touring championship arrives in town.
The last time the tour ran at Stanthorpe was in April for round two of the series, which saw the monster energy team of Rob Whyte take a convincing win in the super charged Nissan 350z.
Whyte, who failed to make the top four after a bit of controversy at the last round at Wakefield Park, NSW in May, will be out to take home maximum points to try and maintain his points advantage over his nearest rival “50 man” Tony Harrison in his v8 powered 180sx Nissan, who he leads in the championship by a mere two points.
The top two will by no means have things all their own way, as there will be another 28 fiercely competitive teams going all out to take the podium spots from them.
These include the 2011 champion Dan Kenneally in his Nissan ute, Mick Rosenblatt, Skyline, Gav Edwards from Sydney in the v8 Skyline and the winner of last year’s all stars Nick Coulson from Ipswich in his v8 powered v8 Commodore ute, the 2010 series winner Josh Boettcher in the gt radials Nissan, Kris Klutke, Simon Mercer, Levi Clarke and youngster Dan Rasell. There will also be several new rebuilt cars making an appearance.
This Sunday’s event will also see the return of the first ever series winner Josh Young and veteran Sydney driver Nathan Weissel in his recently upgraded Skyline.
The action at Carnell Raceway Stanthorpe gets underway at 10am, with gates opening at 9am.
Admission is $20 adults, $10 for children under 14 years old with an adult.
