Although Queen Elizabeth II did not visit Stanthorpe, the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival played a role in the 1950s when Her Majesty visited Queensland.

In 1954, the Apple and Grape arches (the Apple Blossom Arches back then) were transported by train to Toowoomba and graced the streets of the town to herald and celebrate her arrival just a few hours away from Stanthorpe – another iconic part of history the Apple and Grape Festival has been part of.
