Over the long weekend about 20 4WD clubs swarmed to the Stanthorpe Showgrounds to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Toyota Landcruiser Club of Queensland.

Twenty clubs equates to over 300 vehicles and more than 400 adults, not including children, who converged in Landcruiserss of all shapes and sizes throughout the Granite Belt region.

The enthusiasts exchanged ideas on safety, discussed relevant issues for all clubs and generally enjoy trips around Sundown and Girraween National Parks

Organiser Julie Bowdery said each year, the 4WD Queensland Association allocate an affiliated club to host an annual “Corroboree“ Event.

“This year, our club have taken on the role as co-ordinators for the 2021/22 Corroboree,” Ms Bowdery said.

“It is a very social event with clubs mingling and interacting with each other throughout the weekend.”

The event endeavours to help support local business and tourism in the region they choose to visit and provide a weekend which prompts the participants to return to region again and again.

Ms Bowdery said they had increased their visits to Stanthorpe over the past 18 months.

“Many of our club members visited monthly to help plan this event.

“It is fantastic to be able to engage with the local community and we feel very welcomed in hosting this event in Stanthorpe,” she said.

Clubs attended from central Queensland and through to Charters Towers.
