The Stanthorpe RSL Services Club handed out a whopping $116,500 to local groups through its community grants program on Monday night, 10 October.

The money was divvied out between community welfare, sporting teams, not-for-profit organisations, local events, cultural activities and schools.

More than 80 people attended the evening event, which RSL operations manager David Burgess said had been established to provide support to local businesses and organisations that provide vital services.

“We feel that the community supports us so much, so we want to give back,” Mr Burgess said.

“The volunteers in our community give of their time to make our community a great place and this grant aids in giving them some relief in all the hard work they do.

“After Covid, lots of events struggled, so we are helping to get them back on their feet,” he said.
