St Joseph’s school Stanthorpe, Class of 2002, reconnected on Saturday morning with a morning tea and tour of the school.

The reunion was organised by Ruth Stefanon with past graduates and past teachers attending.

They came from as far as Airlie Beach, Brisbane, Toowoomba and Warwick with seven class mates still living in Stanthorpe.

Ms Stefanon said the year 2000 was the first ever year 12 graduation for the school.

“We were the third class of graduates.“

Twenty-eight students graduated in the 2002 class.

The school mates enjoyed a morning tea at the school with past teachers and the current principal.

“We also received emails from ones that couldn’t make it,“ Ms Stefanon said.

“Our principal at the time, Mr John Mula sent a video saying how much of a gamble it was for our parents to keep us at St Joseph’s when it was such a new school.“

Another teacher Mrs Pollard delighted the cohort when she turned up.

Current principal Andrew Kendal gave the students a tour of the school grounds.

“They don’t use the original building anymore,“ Ms Stefanon said.

“There’s new buildings and they have upgraded a lot since we left.“

The class of 2002 would like to thank principal Kendal for his hospitality and for opening up the school for them to enjoy once more.
