The Cobb and Co. Coach and Collectables Museum will officially open on Saturday 29 October in the small town of Liston, about 40 minutes from the Queensland border.

Tenterfield Shire Mayor Bronwyn Petrie will start the auspicious proceedings at 3.30 pm Queensland time.

The commemoration will involve a free afternoon tea and the cutting of the celebration cakes in the Liston Hall followed by an afternoon barbeque at 5.30pm with the bar operating.

Heritage trivia will kick off at 7pm.

With plenty of prize money and lucky door prizes to be won, don’t delay in booking a table of 6 or 8 at Maddie’s Gift Gallery Stanthorpe for a fun night.

The recrafted Cobb and Co coach is just one of the highlights at the museum which also houses an old harness, dray and other collectables, like an old Amosfield school bell, and old adzes which are ancient cutting tools similar to an axe.

Vice President of Liston Hall Eric Ree said local Listen resident John Burton built the replica coach by himself at the age of 88.

“He also designed and constructed the shed which houses the coach with the help of volunteers,” Mr Ree said.

The celebrations will also commemorate the opening of extensions to the Liston Hall.

“A new toilet block and games room featuring a pool table have been added to the existing building after we received grant money.

“The coach shed is located in the park opposite the Liston Hall on council grounds.”
