With reference to recent letters, it would be clear to anybody that watched the SBS program “Go back to where you came from” that the so-called illegals do not live a life of luxury in any part of their existence. Watching Peter Reith squirm when confronted by a Hazara Afghani who had been returned under the Howard Government regime was almost too difficult to bear. Several of the refugees returned with him are now dead or kidnapped.
Peter Reith and Co are proud that they stopped the boats. They may have stopped the boats but they did not stop the deaths.
This program had been filmed before the Liberal and Labor parties agreed to the policy now enacted and yet Peter Reith continued to push the Liberal misinformation barrow.
More people have died this week trying to reach Australia by boat, the lives of their families ruined forever. I would have considered compassion to be one of the virtues of the Australian people
It is time to welcome these poor unfortunates.
