And they're off in the in the 200 metre race.

By Casey OÇonnor

On Saturday members of the Warwick and Granite Belt Little Athletics clubs combined for great day of athletics at Hamilton Oval in Warwick.

Conditions in Warwick were quite warm and the competition on the track was even hotter.

The carnival was well supported by young athletes from both clubs and there were plenty of supporters cheering them on from the sidelines.

It was a great opportunity for athletes from both clubs to compete gain experience in Carnival conditions and to also line up against unknown competitors, it was also a chance for the kids to make new friends.

The athletes gave their all in difficult conditions, competing in 800m, Long Jump, Sprints, Shot Put, Discus and 200m throughout the day.

Competition between the two clubs was fierce but the carnival was run in a spirit of terrific sportsmanship which was displayed consistently in each event. Congratulations to the athletes, parents, carers, grandparents, volunteers, committee members and canteen workers who all contributed to the success of the Carnival.
