Holiday fun at WIRAC

There is no shortage of activities at WIRAC during the September/October school holidays.
The Holiday Activity Program (HAP) will be in full swing once again and this year HAP is going green. Featuring carbon footprint, gardening and murals, WIRAC is looking for donations of seeds, seedlings, cuttings, potting mix, plastic plant pots, old shirts and gardening tools to assist with this program.
“We expect this aspect of HAP to be an interesting learning experience, as well as a fun activity,” said Brendan Iles, WIRAC’s Dry Area Coordinator.
The HAP program runs from 9am to 3pm from September 24 to 28 and October 2 to 5.  Bookings are now open and the cost is only $20 per day.
“The two-week HAP program is jam packed with fun and includes sports ability, flippa ball, the pool inflatable and even a movie day!” Mr Iles said.
“You won’t get a chance to be bored during HAP, there are too many fun things to do,” he said.
As well as the holiday activity program, WIRAC is again offering its Swim/Rock Climb combo.  Each Tuesday and Thursday during the school holidays you can climb from 10.30am to midday and swim from midday onwards for only $5.  Another great way to keep cool and active.
Also running during the holidays is the Holiday Intensive Swimming Program. This program is a great way to give children that extra boost to their swimming ability and caters for beginners to advanced Learn to Swim students.
“This is the perfect opportunity to prepare your children for the summer swimming season,” said Karen Peters, WIRAC’s Aquatic Coordinator.
“The program is a great chance to learn some new skills and consolidate current skills,” she said.
Cost of the five-day program is $55.00 per student and includes pool entry for each day of the program for the student.
Please note also that summer hours will commence from October 1, with opening hours on Sunday changing to 9am to 5pm. The Inflatable will be set up every Saturday from October 6 between 12.00 and 2.00pm.
