The highest award a school can bestow on a student is the overall award for academic excellence: the award of Dux.

The recipient for 2022 at St Josephs’s School Stanthorpe went to Caitlin Ellis, who humbly acknowledged the work her teachers have done to help her achieve this rewarding goal.

Caitlin said she had some exceptional teachers throughout her senior schooling who were willing to create extra space in their schedules, particularly leading up to external exams.

“The teachers were in constant contact with me despite Year 12 classes not running. This was an incredibly important but also stressful period that was made significantly easier by my teachers’ generosity and support,” she said.

Caitlin’s drive to succeed was reinforced by both her strong work ethic and her classmates.

“Myself and my classmates were incredibly invested in our education, and I am sure it will continue to assist us in our lives outside of formal education.”

“Without the 2022 cohort there to assist me in maintaining motivation and support I would have been unable to sustain the drive and focus necessary to achieve academic success,” she said.

Principal Andrew Kendall said Caitlin is an incredibly hard-working and dedicated student who has a flair for the sciences.

“As one of our Prefects, she has also been a very strong student leader throughout the year, and we wish Caitlin every success in her future studies and career.

“She is an outstanding young person,” he said.

Caitlin plans to explore her love of science further by engaging in research in the field of biomedical science.
