Tenders called for sporting facilities

The search is on for long term management for key sport and recreational facilities across the Southern Downs and Granite Belt.

A Request for Tender has been issued for motivated and experienced contractors to apply for the management rights of the Warwick Indoor and Recreational and Aquatic Centre, the Stanthorpe Fitness Centre, the Stanthorpe Outside School Hours Centre and the public pools in Stanthorpe, Killarney and Allora.

Customer and Organisational Services Director Leon Love said the opportunity would appeal to experienced contractors who are motivated to grow the facilities and connect with the community.

“We are looking for enthusiastic, qualified and experienced contractors who are business-minded and motivated to take on the management of Council’s key sport and recreational facilities,” Mr Love said. “Because these contracts are long term, they do not come up for tender too often, which also means the successful contractors can have certainty to invest their time and expertise to benefit from long-term rewards.

“Council’s sport and recreational facilities are service-driven and we envisage that the right contractors will not only operate the sites, but also play a key role in enhancing the liveability of Southern Downs by exploring growth pathways for each facility.

“There are a number of options on the table and interested contractors can apply to oversee one or more of the sites.

“Above all, the facilities must continue to deliver a professional and cost-efficient service to the community and we look forward to the right candidates stepping forward.”

Tender documents prepared by Council are available at www.vendorpanel.com.au after registering online.

Tenders must be lodged electronically via VendorPanel by 2pm AEST Wednesday 31 May 2023. Regulation 228(7) of the Local Government Regulation 2012 relating to changes to tenders may be applied.
