Active lead-up to anniversary

Some Glen Aplin kids with shoeboxes in front of the 125th Anniversary sign.

The Glen Aplin State School community has been busy collecting small items to fill shoe boxes to send overseas to children who are less fortunate than themselves.
Many of the children who will receive these shoe boxes will receive nothing else this Christmas. The students collected 20 shoe boxes full of gifts such as clothing, toiletries, toys, and school equipment over the last term, giving these children a reason to celebrate this Christmas.
As the students have helped someone else celebrate, they are also getting ready to celebrate Glen Aplin State School’s upcoming 125th Anniversary.
Glen Aplin is one of the oldest small schools in the Granite Belt district. The 125th Anniversary celebrations on November 10 are shaping up to be a fun-filled day to remember its wonderful history and celebrate what is to come. Activities such as traditional school yard races and games, live music, historical displays, the opening of the new resource centre and the launch of a commemorative book will guarantee a day that can be enjoyed by all ages.
