The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery and Stanthorpe Library upgrade project budget has blown out from $4 million to $6.4 million, the Southern Downs Regional Council has heard.
At the information session on 20 October, Community and Cultural Services Manager Michael Bell told the council the building’s structure was expected to be completed by the end of the year and the head contractor had forecast completion for 8 March.
“The cost of materials has been increasing by around seven per cent. My forecast is that we will spend the entire budget to get the shell done and not the fit-out,” he said.
