The admired violinist, Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s associate concertmaster Alan Smith, will be in Stanthorpe this weekend to help members of the Southern Downs String Ensemble rise to a new level with their playing.

Mr Smith will share some of his extensive knowledge of string playing for orchestra with the group at a workshop on Saturday 1 June before performing with them in a concert at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre on Sunday 2 June.

They will be joined by vocal soloists from Stanthorpe and Warwick along with the Granite Belt Choir and Warwick’s East Street Singers.

The concert, Inspired Melodies, will start at 2pm and will be a great opportunity for a Stanthorpe audience to hear virtuosity at work as Mr Smith will also give a solo presentation.

Host of the event is the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery (at the Civic Centre) and tickets will be $25 for adults ($20 for SRAG members) and will be available at the door or online via www.srag.org.au/events. Entry is free for children under 16 years.
