Thank you for the opportunity to keep readers updated with the goings on in the world of Zonta Stanthorpe.

As incoming President, I look forward to working with current and new members and the community to “build a better world for women and girls”.

Members met for our annual planning day on Sunday 9 June. In addition to planning our calendar of events for the next 12 months and our monthly meeting, members also assembled 20 gift bags for new mums and babies. This project is a continuance from last year and bags will be delivered to Stanthorpe Health Services.

Four of our board members were unable to attend our changeover dinner last month and we took the opportunity to instal these members at the meeting. Deb Debnam – treasurer, Denice Arlidge – correspondence secretary, Annette Turner – minutes secretary and Jenny Lutter – service chair were installed by past president Desleigh Volpato.

Myself and three other members of Zonta Stanthorpe will be attending the Zonta International Convention at the end of this month. It is exciting that this is being held in Brisbane, thus making it possible for us to attend. More about this convention next month.

Last but not least – Zonta Stanthorpe is once again providing Grazing Platters at the Murphy’s Pigs Event on Saturday 13 July. You can pre-purchase these platters via our Humanitix ticket page; events.humanitix.com/murphy-s-pigs-2024-grazingplatter

Funds raised will support local individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
