New way for Eco Expo

As we enter the fifth year of the Stanthorpe Eco Expo events, the format is changing from having separate speakers and markets. This year, we take our visitors on a tour around the Eco Expo, as different stall holders will present a talk or demonstration from their site at the Whistlestop Community Gardens markets.

After starting the morning with Ness Edge’s ’ Quantum Flow and Yoga with Lucy Hollingsworth, Rothy Benson will be showing us how to create a labyrinth out of everyday objects, which one can walk through in a mindful state. Then blacksmith Adrian Hobba is going to show how your tools can be mended and sharpened with his mobile forge. Don’t forget to bring your old tools to be worked on!

Next up we’ll have a fascinating talk from Andew Pengally on indigenous plants for health, followed by Brooke Summerville showing us how the team from Boomerang Bags create sustainable grocery bags (and heaps more) from recycled materials.

Then Philippa and Bee from the Stanthorpe Slow Stitchers will demonstrate a simple way to sew a produce bag from old lace curtains. People are welcome to have a go at hand-sewing a useful bag they can take shopping.

The Dogwood Three are leading us into lunch (provided by the crew from Ananda Palli) and then the presentations resume with a composting workshop by Envirocom. By this stage, the farmers’ markets will be winding up, but our favourite supporters are staying on to contribute to the Expo. Hayley from Beautiful Abundance is keen to share her knowledge about fermenting foods for health and Graeme Sait is going to talk about what they are doing with Nutrition Farms. There are so many different activities on offer, you’ll be sure to stay the whole day.

Join us for a great Eco Expo on Saturday 7th September, at the Whistlestop Community Gardens from 7.30am.

A notable inclusion for this year is Graeme Sait who is a farmer, author, researcher and teacher who owns a 30yrs old regenerative Ag company, Nutri-Tech Solutions. “At the 2024 Stanthorpe Eco Expo, I will be focusing on the profound links between soil health and human health, and I will be discussing strategies to live a happier, healthier, longer life,“ Mr Sait said.
