Ballandean Pub is set to host its inaugural country festival early next month as organisers hope to reignite the community’s love for country.

The pub, which underwent extensive renovations at the start of the year, will welcome country musicians Emma Jordyn, Peter Campbell, Riley Young and Melanie Dyer for the first ever Ballandean Country Fest on Saturday 5 October.

Pub owner Adam Penberthy, who bought the pub alongside his wife in 2023, shared his excitement about the upcoming event.

“Since opening earlier this year, we wanted to create something special for the community and visitors that celebrates great music, good company, and having a fantastic time in a beautiful setting,” Mr Penberthy said.

“The Ballandean Country Fest is exactly that; an event that really captures the spirit of country music and the warm, welcoming vibe that the Granite Belt is known for,” he said.

Queensland Country Tourism chief executive Peter Homan said the event will attract hundreds to the Granite Belt, reinforcing the region as a premier tourism destination.

“The Ballandean Pub highlights the essential role tourism operators play in creating the ultimate Queensland Country experience, showcasing genuine country hospitality,” Mr Homan said.

“This event is set to draw a substantial number of visitors, eager to support local businesses and immerse themselves in the area’s unique charm,” he said.

“A huge congratulations to Adam and Sammie, the owners of the Ballandean Pub, for bringing this festival to life.”

In addition to the music lineup, punters can look forward to a range of activities, including kids’ entertainment, line dancing, karaoke, and a variety of food stalls.
