Changed for good

AN annual march through Stanthorpe celebrated the life of a woman who changed the town forever.
Sharyn Rowen was a tireless advocate for people with disabilities until the day her Multiple Sclerosis finally claimed her.
On one occasion Ms Rowen had the town’s leading citizens, the mayor, police sergeant, councillors and others, perform the simple tasks that confront people with disabilities every day.
They had to buy items while blindfolded, or navigate gutters and shop entries in wheelchairs.
The town’s premier citizens then realised what people with disabilities have to go through to complete the simplest of tasks. On the spot they committed themselves to making Stanthorpe more friendly for those with disabilities.
