Roadworks will need travel plan

Drivers should plan for delays if they’re heading towards Brisbane between now and year’s end.

TRAVELLERS from the Southern Downs and northern NSW planning to go to Brisbane can expect delays as roadworks continue.
Up to three worksites could be in operation between the helipad at Cunningham’s Gap and Aratula, according to a Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson.
Work is expected to be completed later this year, weather and site conditions permitting.
The works near the helipad at Clumber also include planned safety improvements.
Another three sections of the Cunningham Highway are under reconstruction between Warrill View and Mutdapilly to repair the road surface and damaged embankments. Maximum delays through these roadworks between the Gap and Mutdapilly are expected to be less than 15 minutes at each site, the spokesperson said.
Traffic controllers will monitor queue lengths to minimise travel delays.
Some night works may be required to minimise impacts on motorists while asphalt laying is underway.
Outside working hours, traffic signals are in place to manage traffic around the worksites.
“Traffic management controls such as reduced speed limits and lane closures are in place for the safety of motorists and roadworkers,” the spokesperson said.
“We appreciate motorists’ patience while these works are carried out and encourage road users to plan their travel.”
