Starting school at Stanthorpe

It was all grins and piggy tails as Stanthorpe State School’s new classes of Preppers and Year Ones paraded into the school grounds for the very first time, accompanied by their proud parents and carers.

The lollypop ladies were in full swing, safely ferrying keen little people across a busy Marsh Street as a convey of families made the journey to school just in time for a 9am start.

After farewell hugs and kisses and a quick peek at their little ones taking their special place at desks and on mats, parents made their way home, work or the nearest café as young minds embraced their first steps of independence as early learners.

Fun classroom activities, new friends to meet, the thrill of little lunch, big lunch and of course playtime, made day one race by for most!   Before they knew it, it was time to go home to answer the burning question on almost every parent’s lips, “so …. what did you do today?”

Early to bed was probably the order of the day in most households, for children and their exhausted parents alike!

With our having to repeat this process five days a week for the entire school year, let’s hope next week is a little more relaxing!
