Healthy outlook for our families

A NEW agreement aims to improve health care services for children, young people and families across the Darling Downs, South Burnett and South West Queensland region.
A protocol signed this week between Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service and Darling Downs South West Queensland (DDSWQ) Medicare Local will seek to address a range of priorities to improve the quality of care and access to services.
The two organisations have identified key areas for collaboration around promotion, prevention and early intervention; perinatal and infant mental health; child and youth mental health; care coordination for children with complex and chronic care needs; and indigenous, refugee, cultural and linguistically diverse groups.
Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Board chair Susan Johnston said the organisation was committed to working collaboratively with local primary health care partners to plan and deliver the best possible care for children and young people.
“This new agreement will ensure the expertise and resources of Children’s Health Queensland and DDSWQ Medicare Local are aligned towards a shared goal of improving the health care needs of families in the region,” she said.
