Roadworks to slow Gap traffic

FLOOD repairs are underway on the Cunningham Highway near the top of Cunningham’s Gap.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads said loose material needs to be removed from the embankment surface in the vicinity of Gap Creek Bridge to prevent further slips.
The repairs are due to extreme wet weather experienced in January.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way during the work. The overtaking lane will be closed to all vehicle traffic.
Motorists can expect delays with reduced speed limits and reduced lane widths, while short, periodic full closures may be required to safely remove large rocks or debris from the embankment.
The work, Monday to Friday 6am to 6pm, started on Monday, 18 November and is expected to be completed early in 2014.
