Six nabbed in drug raids

WARWICK detectives conducted a series of drug raids in the city over the past week.
The first of six raids on Friday, 6 December targeted a property in Pratten Street.
Police allegedly found a Warwick man, 23, in possession of 3.5 grams of amphetamine, cash, a small amount of cannabis, drug utensils and unidentified tablets.
He was charged with five offences, including two of possession of dangerous drugs.
The man was refused bail and remanded in custody.
A raid in Clarke St, Warwick resulted in a man, 46, being caught with a small quantity of drugs. He was eligible for and offered drug diversion.
A 28-year-old man was found in possession of 20 grams of cannabis and drug utensils at a residence in Percy St.
On Saturday in Grafton St a female 41, was found in possession of drug utensils and offered drug diversion.
Another woman found in Flynn Drive with drug utensils was charged and will face court.
On Monday, a 19-year-old offender was charged with possession of dangerous drugs- three grams of cannabis – and utensils.

Assault charges
A WARWICK police officer will undergo months of health checks after being spat on by a local woman after a domestic incident early on Sunday.
Police were called to the incident at 2.15am and detained the 19-year-old, who continued to resist arrest.
Taken to the watchhouse the woman spat directly in the face of an officer.
She was charged with the serious assault of a police officer and will appear in Warwick Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
The officer involved has undergone a series of tests to ensure there has been no transfer of disease, a process that can take up to six months.

Hit and miss
AT 10.30am on Sunday a 19-year-old local man approached the Warwick Police Station and punched a front window, smashing it.
The man then went to a retail store in Fitzroy St where he allegedly stole a quantity of cigarettes.
He was located, arrested and charged with wilful destruction of police property and stealing.

Car seized
A REPEAT disqualified driver was jailed and is likely to forfeit his car to the Crown under new laws in Queensland.
The 24-year-old Western Australian man was intercepted on the Cunningham Highway, driving while disqualified.
A multiple offender, he appeared in Warwick Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 December and was sentenced to two months imprisonment.
The man’s vehicle was impounded under the new laws which came into effect in November and may be forfeited to the Crown.

Car smash
A 20-YEAR-OLD Warwick woman was charged with failing to give way after a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Bracker Rd and the New England Highway on Friday.
Police said although there were no substantial injuries, both cars were towed from the scene.

Drivers charged
POLICE conducting drink-driving operations intercepted a car driven by a 28-year-old Warwick woman at 7.30am on Thursday, 5 December.
The woman was breathalysed and returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.059 per cent. She was issued with a Notice to Appear in the Warwick Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
On Sunday, a 31-year-old Warwick man was stopped in Albion St at 12.20am where he recorded a BAC of 0.055 per cent. He will appear in court at a later date.
