Shelters sent

TENTERFIELD Rotary hoped to raise money for five ShelterBoxes to assist victims of the Philippines super typhoon.
The finished up with enough money for seven of the disaster relief kits, thanks to the generosity of locals.
The Tenterfield club punched above its weight, funding seven of the 750 shelters shipped to typhoon survivors.
Each ShelterBox contains a tent, bedding, stove and basic items to house 10 people for up to 18 months.
Top price at their auction was for a landscape under glass by local artist Michael Peiper that fetched $300. The money raised at the auction was boosted by generous donations from the public as far afield as Warwick.
A spokesman for Tenterfield Rotary expressed his appreciation for the generosity of the community.
