Hector helps children learn for life

It is widely acknowledged that education is the cornerstone of life, and what more important education can we offer our children than education about life itself.
Students from Stanthorpe State School have been taking part in life education this week and, with the enormous help of the famous puppet, Hector the Giraffe, have come away with a real sense of wonder at the amazing capabilities of our bodies, a genuine understanding of the effects of things we may add to our bodies and the skills necessary to make good decisions, form opinions, deal with peer pressures and be an active listener.
Of course, life education presents a wide variety of topical subject matter to choose from, from drug prevention to health education and all integrating with the current health syllabus offered by Education Queensland.
Given that each and every class from Prep through to the Year 7 students had the opportunity to take part, the highly experienced educational presenter Jane Jackson ensured each and every session was appropriately tailored to suit her audience.
The result, a revolving door of very happy learners, eager to go home, eat some healthy everyday foods, make smart choices, be inclusive in their play and hopefully, listen even harder to the wise advice of their parents!
